Our Coaches
As part of the “Triumph family” we provide the best coaches both on a local and national level. The focus on wrestling development runs parallel with the goal of creating good men and women off the mat. We will always strive to create an environment that is conducive to learning and safe by providing not only the best coaches but an adequate number of coaches per class. Quality will always be first and foremost at Triumph!
At Triumph, the coaches’ dedication to our members produces several nationally ranked and division one commits yearly. We have trained multiple NCAA All-Americans, over 15 state champs and over a 150 state placers.

Scott Goodale
Triumph South – Head Clinician
Coach Goodale is currently the head coach of Rutgers Wrestling. The winningest coach in program history, Goodale has turned Rutgers wrestling into one of the top teams in the country when he took over on July 31, 2007.
Since Goodale took over the program, the Scarlet Knights have produced the program’s first two individual national champions, six individual conference titles, 19 All-Americans, multiple All-Americans at seven of the last nine NCAA Championships, and since 2009, have earned two top 10 finishes and 13 top 25 finishes in the final NWCA Division I Coaches Poll.
The Jackson, N.J., native took over the Rutgers program following an impressive seven-year stint as head coach at his alma mater, Jackson Memorial High School. In seven seasons, Goodale compiled an overall record of 155-16, leading his squad to the top ranking in the state in 2006 and 2007.
Collegiately Goodale wrestled at Lock Haven University. He made three trips to the NCAA Championships, as well as placing second at the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Tournament twice in his career. During his time with the Bald Eagles, the team was ranked as high as ninth in the country. Goodale finished with 99 wins at Lock Haven. Goodale was inducted into the school’s Wrestling Hall of Fame on Sept. 14, 2024.

Dan Roy
Triumph South – High School & Youth Coach
Coach Roy is currently the head coach at Southern Regional High School. Since taking over the Rams, he has helped sustain the program’s reputation as one of New Jersey’s premier public school powers winning four consecutive NJSIAA Group 5 State Championships.
Under Roy’s leadership, Southern has been ranked top 10 in the State every year since he started in 2019 as well as Nationally Ranked in 2023 season (23rd) and 2024 season (22nd). Coach is personally responsible for 3 Individual State Champions, 8 Individual State Finalists, 24 Individual State Place Winners and was named NJ State Coach of the year twice in 2023 and 2025.
Prior to being the Head Coach at Southern Regional he served as the Head Assistant for 16 years. Coach Roy wrestled collegiately at East Stroudsburg University (Division I) where he was an EIWA Placer. After graduating he served on staff as Assistant Coach at ESU.

Ken Theobold
Triumph South – High School and Youth
Ken combines elite competitive experience with a passion for mentorship. As an NCAA All-American and Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient, he emphasizes technical mastery, mental toughness, and championship-level preparation. Kenny focuses on helping wrestlers grow both on and off the mat.

Kyle Kiss
Triumph South – High School & Youth Coach
Coach Kiss brings over 10 years of D1 Coaching experience to the club. Coach Kiss was an Assistant Coach at UNC Chapel Hill, the Associate Head Coach at Clarion University, as well as an Assistant Coach at Rutgers University. Coach Kiss is currently the RTC Coach at Rutgers University. Prior to coaching he wrestled collegiately at the University of North Carolina.

Mark Grey
Triumph South – High School & Youth Coach
Current Tom’s River East Head Coach. Coach Grey recently lead his team to a New Jersey State Sectional title, the first in school history. Prior to taking over TRE coach wrestled collegiately at Cornell where he was a 3x NCAA Qualifier.
In High School Coach Grey was a standout at Blair Academy. A consensus top 10 national recruit as a high school senior, Grey was ranked as the nation’s top-ranked wrestler by The Open Mat as a senior. He became the first-ever four-time champion at the Beast of the East Tournament and also won four titles at the National Preps.
Grey earned a spot on the Junior World Freestyle Team, finishing fifth in consecutive years at the FILA World Junior Championships while competing in Bucharest, Romania and Sofia, Bulgaria.
